Syed Fadhl Bin Alawi Mauladawila : The Legacy of a Malabar Scholar

The Administrative Complex of Syed Fadhl Bin Alawi :

Now in ruins, this was once the administrative Complex of the Emir of Dhofar under the Ottoman empire, Syed Fadhl Bin Alawi Mauladawila or better known in the Malabar as Syed Fasal Pookoya Thangal son of Mamburam Alawi Thangal who was exiled from the Malabar by the British for his involvement in the numerous rebellions and revolts against the British empire in Malabar during the latter half of the 19th century. He ruled the Dhofar province from 1875 to 1879 after which he went to Turkey and was the advisor to Sultan Abdul Hamid II where he was known as Fazal Pasha. Among his works the most famous is Uddathul Umara which acted as a catalyst in the freedom struggles of the Malabar people.

The Administrative Complex consisted of meeting Hall, Court room and various administrative administration offices.
